Tyre Advice — All-Terrain Comparison

Loodys Tyre Advice

All-terrain tyres for vans & campers

Based on independent tests, EU labels and thousands of user reviews

⚠️ Honest up front: Every AT tyre makes more noise than a standard road tyre. The more aggressive the tread, the more noise. Campers and heavily loaded vehicles also amplify tyre noise significantly. The ranking below is based on independent test data — not on what manufacturers or we ourselves claim.

The surprise of the field for the price-conscious driver. Camper owners who switched from the BFG KO2 report comparable real-world performance, with up to a quarter less road noise and better cold-weather grip thanks to the softer compound. Adequate load rating for campers (102T in 225/65R17). Expected life ~40,000 km — half that of a BFG, but at half the price. For 90% motorway + occasional off-road an excellent choice. Not ideal for high-mileage professional touring or extreme terrain.

✓ Best value for money ✓ Tough aggressive look + white letters ✓ Real-world proof from camper owners ✓ Softer compound = cold-weather grip
✗ Not for high-mileage motorway-only use ✗ Shorter life than premium brands

The consistent winner on road noise — drives almost like a road tyre. Winner of the ADAC all-terrain tyre test. Excellent wear and wet-road performance with a 60,000 km warranty. Off-road it is fine for gravel, light mud and sand, but not for serious terrain.

✓ Quietest of all ✓ Ride comfort like a road tyre ✓ 3PMSF winter certification ✓ 60,000 km warranty
✗ Least aggressive looks ✗ Limited in deep mud or rocks

Consistently ranked high in independent tests as the best AT all-rounder on the road. Best wet-road performance of the comparison. Best mud traction of all winter-certified AT tyres. Note: it has a specific "whooshing" sound at higher speeds — with a wide variation per size and driver. Gets louder as the tyre wears.

✓ Best wet-road performance ✓ Excellent in snow ✓ Strong off-road incl. mud
✗ Audible at motorway speed ✗ Gets louder with wear (>40,000 km)

The surprise of the promobil camper tyre test 2024: quietest of the serious AT tyres at 70.9 dB, with excellent comfort and minimal vibration — and still winner of the entire test as best all-round AT tyre. Best mud traction in the promobil 2024 test. Continental technology gives it a strong on-road base. 65,000 km warranty — longest of all tyres compared. White letters available on request (depending on size and variant).

✓ Quietest serious AT (70.9 dB measured) ✓ Best mud traction in 2024 test ✓ 65,000 km warranty ✓ Continental technology
✗ Pricier than Comforser/Yokohama ✗ Aquaplaning slightly behind Falken

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best

⭐⭐⭐ 3PMSF

The iconic name with the strongest off-road reputation — but also the loudest on the road. Best off-road scores across the board. In a modern joint test (2024), however, the KO2 finished 7th of 7, largely due to weaker road and wet performance. The best choice if you genuinely go off-road; for camper owners driving 90% on tarmac, harder to justify.

✓ Best off-road (mud, rocks, sand) ✓ Strongest sidewall ✓ Proven durability ✓ White letters
✗ Loudest of the comparison ✗ Weakest wet-road performance

Our recommendation

🏆 Tough look + best value → Comforser CF1100 (for 90% road + occasional off-road)

⭐ Best all-rounder + longest warranty → General Grabber AT3 (65,000 km, Continental technology)

Best in the wet + mud → Falken Wildpeak AT3W

Most comfort + quietest → Yokohama Geolandar G015 (60,000 km warranty, 3PMSF)

Best off-road + iconic look → BFGoodrich KO2 (top segment, double the price)

Important caveat: Noise is always subjective and depends on vehicle, size, speed and load. A 3,500 kg camper amplifies tyre noise significantly more than an empty SUV. We are happy to advise you personally — contact us via WhatsApp or give us a call.
