Fiat Ducato Dimensions: Complete Overview of All Variants
Share
The Fiat Ducato has been Europe's most popular van for decades — and for good reason. With a wide range of lengths and heights, there's a suitable variant for every application. In this guide, we answer the six questions we get asked most often about Ducato dimensions, with exact figures for each variant.
Which Ducato generations are there and when were they released?
The current generation Fiat Ducato (Type 290, model year 2014-present) has remained consistent in dimensions. Previous generations are slightly smaller — if you own a pre-2014 Ducato, check the dimensions with us via WhatsApp. Important to know: Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper share the exact same platform. Dimensions and technical specs are identical across these three brands — including wheel PCD. Opel Movano has used the same chassis since 2021.
How do I measure the wheelbase and body length of my Ducato?
Wheelbase is the distance between the center of the front wheel and the center of the rear wheel. Measure on the side of the van, hub cap to hub cap. Body length is measured from bumper to bumper on the outside. The wheelbase largely determines how the van behaves: shorter = more maneuverable, longer = more stable at high speed and more cargo space behind the rear axle. What's the difference between L1, L2, L3 and L4?
L stands for length. Four length variants of the Ducato:
- L1 — Overall length 4,963 mm · Wheelbase 3,000 mm · Load volume 8 m³. The compact city van.
- L2 — Overall length 5,413 mm · Wheelbase 3,450 mm · Load volume 11.5 m³. The best-selling variant; most popular camper base.
- L3 — Overall length 5,998 mm · Wheelbase 4,035 mm · Load volume 13 m³ (H2) or 15 m³ (H3).
- L4 — Overall length 6,363 mm · Wheelbase 4,035 mm · Load volume 17 m³. The Ducato Maxi.
What are the H1, H2 and H3 height dimensions?
H stands for height. Three variants:
- H1 — Overall height 2,254 mm. Combines only with L1.
- H2 — Overall height 2,524 mm. Standard height for L2 and L3.
- H3 — Overall height 2,764 mm. For L3 and L4 — popular with removal companies, ambulances and high camper conversions.
Width is the same across all variants: 2,050 mm (excluding mirrors). For the detailed table per variant, see also our comprehensive guide with all Ducato/Boxer/Jumper dimensions.
Will my Ducato fit in a standard car park?
Standard car parks typically have a clearance height between 2.00 m and 2.10 m. The Ducato is higher than this in virtually every variant:
- H1 (2,254 mm) — won't fit in 2.00 m, sometimes tight in 2.30 m.
- H2 (2,524 mm) — usually only fits in car parks with "truck access" or above-ground spaces.
- H3 (2,764 mm) — open parking areas only.
Check the clearance and parking height at your destination beforehand. For residential or business parking, you'll need a flat exit or free outdoor space.
Which wheel and tire size fits which variant?
The Fiat Ducato has two possible PCDs, depending on the chassis:
- 5×118 — standard for L1, L2 and most L3 variants (Ducato Light). Also applies to Boxer and Jumper Light.
- 5×130 — for the Ducato Maxi (L3 or L4 with heavier chassis) and equivalent Movano/Boxer Maxi.
Which one do you have? A handy trick with M14 and M16 bolts is explained in our Ducato Light vs Maxi guide. Standard tire sizes are 215/70R15 or 225/75R16, depending on model year and variant.
Go straight to the range:
- Ducato Light 16 inch (5×118)
- Ducato Light 17 inch (5×118)
- Ducato Light 18 inch (5×118)
- Ducato Maxi 16 inch (5×130)
- Ducato Maxi 17 inch (5×130)
